More About Taste Cumbria
Visitor numbers each year reach around 40,000 people across the weekend and it’s most definitely easy to see why. After all, traditional Cumbrian food and local produce is famous across the UK and beyond.
Humble local favourites such as Cumbrian Sausage and unique lamb dishes, through to those aimed at the sweeter tooth. In particular Kendal Mint Cake, Grasmere Gingerbread and Cumbria’s favourite sticky toffee pudding.
As for the Taste Cumbria Food Festival in Cockermouth, expect all of the above and much more besides. The festivities feature food demonstrations from famous local chefs and some of the best produce the Lake District has to offer.
However, this year also includes some new editions. Friday night’s entertainment comes in the form of a comedy show. Along with a prosecco bar and gin tasting, while elsewhere Workington’s Tractor Shed Brewery provide a good old pint of local beer.
Then, of course, there’s even more food to savour with samples from local suppliers, restaurants and independent bakers. There’s everything from exclusive fine dining courtesy of Ben Wilkinson to a street market with pizza, burgers and a BBQ.
Alternatively, if arranging a last minute package break for this month’s Taste Cumbria isn’t practical, there’s always Christmas. The winter version of the food festival takes place during December in the Lake District, with the Taste Cumbria Christmas Market. Cockermouth welcomes the festive edition of the popular event as a two day affair on Saturday 7th December and Sunday 8th December.
