Michelin Star Restaurants in the Lake District
With a handful of Michelin Star Restaurants in the Lake District, why not treat yourself to something special? In fact, one of the restaurants is only a 5-minute drive from our very own spa hotel in Windermere.
HRiSHi at the Gilpin Hotel, Windermere
If you’re staying in Windermere, then HRiSHi at the Gilpin Hotel is a must. After all, it’s not too far to travel and what’s more, you know you’re in for a treat. It’s been a Michelin Star Restaurant since 2016 thanks to head chef Hrishikesh Desai. The Indian born mastermind behind the hotels’ restaurant combines local produce with spices taken from his origins.
As for how much to expect to spend, then budget between £70 and £90 (£150 with wine). Alternatively, at HRiSHi’s you can always check in for afternoon tea instead at just £22.50 per person.
L’Enclume, Cartmel
Simon Rogan has become somewhat of a legend within the Lake District, his L’Enclume restaurant in Cartmel having gained 2 Michelin Stars. Despite the minimal approach to the décor, his menus are far from straightforward.
You can try a 10-course lunch menu for £59 or go all out for £155 and a 20-course meal. Fancy a glass of fine wine to wash it down with? Then that will be an additional £49 or £80 respectively.
Rogan and Co, Cartmel
You may think another Michelin Star Restaurant in Cartmel would give L’Enclume a run for its money. However, don’t be fooled by the competition, as the names suggest this is also the work of Simon Rogan, albeit with a more traditional affair.
While focussing on a standard 3-course meal, main dishes at Rogan and Co. are around £25 on average. The relaxed dining experience still brings a piece of Rogan to the table, in the form of his home-grown seasonal produce.
Forest Side Hotel, Grasmere
The last of our Michelin Star Restaurants in the Lake District takes us to Grasmere. Although if you think you’re getting away from Simon Rogan then you’d be mistaken. Head Chef at Forest Side is Kevin Tickle, who has spent 9 years at L’Enclume before going solo.
As with many a great Michelin Chef, Kevin makes the most of his surroundings. Often heading out to the countryside for a spot of foraging. The result, a very reasonably priced lunchtime tasting menu between £40 and £80. Dinner will cost £80 to £105
