Brockhole in Windermere opens their gates from the 19th to 31st October. No fewer than an “unlucky for some“ 13 Halloween events in the Lake District. The grounds are transformed into a haunted forest, pumpkin trails, zombie archery and many more gruesome games to bring the ghosts and ghouls alive.
Halloween at Muncaster Castle
Reportedly one of the most haunted castles in Britain, the popular tourist attraction of Muncaster Castle really goes to town during October. Everyone working at Muncaster Castle gets involved in the action, from carving pumpkins to getting dressed up. There’s potion-making classes, storytime, a scary maze and ghosts hidden around every corner.
Halloween Fun at Holker Hall
Grange-Over-Sands has some October Half Term fun that takes over with some Harry Potter inspired activities. In particular, Wizard schools and theatre workshops based around the magical storybooks from J K Rowling.
It’s Franken Time at Dove Cottage!
Halloween in the Lake District isn’t always about the children, as Dove Cottage shows. The evening of the 31st October 2019 invites literature expert Richard Stanton to help explore all things Frankenstein. In particular, that of Mary Shelley’s novel “Frankenstein”.
Pumpkin Picking at Walby Farm
The pumpkin fields at Walby Farm in Carlisle are ready for picking from the 17th October until the end of the month. During which time there are specially tailored Halloween events for all the family. Meaning this is a chance for a day out at the farm while taking home your very own pumpkin at the end of it.
Cockermouth Ghost Walk
What would a spa break in the Lake District during October be without a ghost walk? Well, for £10 per person you can join Lakeland Hauntings for exactly that. Meeting your guide at the Bush Inn pub means time it right and you can grab a pint while you’re there.
Halloween Masquerade Ball
